"Dressing fabulous & still lovin' Jesus!"- Share your FAVORITE stores & tips here!

Ok, So I gotta address this area. In the world of wanting a ton of "likes"-- some women feel the need to dress half naked. Drives me a little nuts. You're SO valued & SO precious to God! You don't have to go showin' all your goodies!! When I graduated from college, I moved to New York started an internship where I worked for free. After awhile, I was FLAT BROKE. I had the opportunity to depend on randoms, but I cut them all of & was determined NOT to ask my family for money. So, I want to share some places to shop that I LOVE and encourage all of you to work with what you got- and keep them goodies hidden til' you get married & share them only with your guy!

1. I LOVE boutiques!!! If you're in New York- you must check out Dor L' Dor-- there's 2 locations in the city. You can always find cute stuff that's one of a kind. Even if your local areas, check out boutiques!

2. I LOVE Ebay! Yes. If I find something cute in a Saks.. or a Anthropologie, Bloomingdales, but I don't wanna spend unnecessary money, I will try it on in the store & order it RIGHT off of Ebay. Get it dry-cleaned when it arrives & I just saved 50%!!

3. I LOVE shopping out of season. Yes, I buy most of my boots in April and my sandals in November. Why? Because the sales are crazy good! Granted, I do purchase shoes in season.. but for the most part, I get a bulk of them out of season. I ain't trying to "blend" in with the next "trend"- I wear what I think is cute in my head lol

4. I LOVE thrifting!! I find SO many cute pieces! Again, get it dry cleaned & work it out!

5. Don't sleep on Target!! lol

6. Tank Tops are your friend. Honestly, I don't have a huge chest. I'm a 34-B. But, even so-- some of my tops are low cut, so i throw on a nude tank top & rock with it so I don't have any cleavage.

7. Bend over. If you can bend over in your skirt or shorts & you cannot see your goodies-- that's a good first step. Yes, I will shorter shorts/skirts on vacation as I'm on the beach, etc-- but I like to keep it limited locally.

8. Know your body type. If you have huge boobies, don't wear things that will "show" them off or give you a ton of cleavage. Leave something to the imagination.

9. Feel like you're dressing boring? Accessories are your FRIEND! I loveeeeeee necklaces, bracelets, belts & rings! It adds SO much to your outfit!

10. Don't like makeup? I don't wear a ton. I do wear concealer, powder, bronzer, mascara & lip stuff! Makeup only ENHANCES your natural beauty! Check out a makeup counter one day & just try it out!

Love you ladies! And pinky promise that you won't post bikini pictures online. :)

Save it for your hubby!

I love this post sis!!!!! I agree with u on everything! From the thrifting, to the boutiques, to the makeup, to ebay (just got those Pink burberry rainboots brand new from there), from wearing things that complement your body type! Thanks for sharing!

Also, sometimes as a sister/friend we need to lovingly help our sisters out. Especially before we go out! Sometimes we may think we look good in something and you need that honest friend that will let you know, that may not be the outfit for you due to it being too tight, revealing, etc.

Lastly, ask the Holy Spirit! We know when we really dont feel peace about wearing something! Go with that peace, and change the outfit!

If you're wearing leggings, make sure you're panties aren't showing. And I've noticed that see-through shirts are in style. Some of them are cute, but idk how to wear them appropriately.

i hate leggings unless they are dark and you wear them in the winter with boots and a long oversized shirt covering your butt. I like oversized shirts.lol

I agree! I think leggings should only be worn under skirts, dresses, or a long shirt or sweater. They should not be worn as pants!! Smh. It's okay to wear em as pants around the house but I don't think it's appropriate to wear out in public without something over them.

For the see-through blouses, u can always put a matching cami underneath it. I got all of mine from old Navy. Honestly, since camis are usually used as undergarments, u can get plenty of them in different colors from Family Dollar!

Family Dollar...hmmm who would have 'thunk' lol Thank!

Greattttt post!!!!! I agree with everything Heather said!

:) I'm super girly and I love clothes and shopping, so this post is right up my alley! Lol. There are so many ways that you can dress cute and be modest and pleasing to God at the same time.

I have a ton of tank tops in different colors, and I love to layer them either by themselves or underneath a shirt. Also...if you wear racerback tank tops or sleeveless shirts & your bra straps are showing...that's not a good look! Get one of those convertible bras where you can criss-cross the straps or adjust them to hide underneath whatever your wearing, or another cheaper option is to get one of those Strap Perfect things (I think they're one of those "as seen on TV" informercial products but I bought an 'off brand' set from JcPenney) to clip your bra straps together (like in a racer back shape) so they won't peek from under your tank top! I bought a set of 3--they came in black, beige, and clear--and they really do work.

I also LOVE nail polish!!! There's so many cute colors out there! From neon pink to black to apple red, there's different colors that will go with any outfit. I love expressing myself through my nails and I think nail polish is a great way to add a little something extra to your look! There's lots of brands of nail polish that's pretty and cheap at places like Walgreens, Rite Aid, Sally's or even the dollar store! Plus, bright, pretty colors make me happy! :) I also love jewelry-especially earrings!

I #pinkypromise not to post bikini pics (you ain't even gon catch me in a bikini lol) or ANY immodest pictures online!! Noone's seeing any of that except for my "adam"! ;)

Great Post Heather! Great tips...#8 is a good one! (A) shaped dresses are always classy, I stay far away from bodycon dresses, I have a big tush!

I completely agree with the bra strap comment! Having exposed bra straps can make an otherwise cute outfit look inappropriate. The "as see on TV" bra strap clips are a great, practical buy and not super expensive. I purchased the 3 pack about 2 years ago and use them all the time.

I love nail polish too! A great way to keep the cost down with this is to learn to do your nails yourself! It's far less expensive to buy a couple of bottles of polish instead of going to the nail salon every few weeks. My friends always give me compliments on my nails and ask me to do theirs for them. I don't mind but practice makes perfect! The more you do your own nails, the better you'll get at it :)

When I'm shopping, I look for quality over quantity. This doesn't mean that I go out and buy a super expensive pair of jeans. However, I make sure that I'm not spending tons of money on things that won't last more than a year or two. I also don't get caught up in trends. If you buy quality clothing and accessories that you want to be able to wear for a few years, they should be classic pieces that will outlast the latest trend.

Next, learn how to mix and match the clothes that you already have. You'd be surprised by how many different outfits you can come up with just by using what's in your closet! Take pieces in your wardrobe and find creative ways to dress them "up" or "down" for different outings and events.

Also, be conscience of the number, type and placement of piercings and tattoos. Although some people may view these as additional forms of accessories, they can be very suggestive and may send the wrong message to those around you.

Another fashion tip - embrace pattern, texture and color! I love having a fresh pop of color in my outfits, a bold print, or a really cute clutch with texture.

I've learned that fashion is one big experiment in personal style so have fun with it :)

Heather this sounds exactly like somthing I would write...well not exactly as I never thought abt Ebay andf Thrift shops!!!! lol..I am def going to look into that option esp now that I am no as super tight budget. You are like me..very modest but still love to look great. I irk when young ladies esp. christians are showing waaaaaay too much...and church is no limits for them...what I wear to a picnic I probably would not wear to a chucrch social..you know like how some pants might be OK for a night on the town but a bit risque for church..am I making any sense? lol...

like you I tend to wear short skirts and the like when I am on vacation...which brings me to a question I would like you ladies to adress...my church had a cruise in the past I didnt go (I didnt know alot of ppl then..and I am kinda shy..so I decided not to go lol)..but thinking about it I wonder how I would have dressed when we went to the beach and pool?.....I know I would not be comfortable wearing a bathing suit around all my church folks esp. the brothers.....how would you ladies handle that??????

I would like you ladies input...my church had a cruise in the past I didnt go (I didnt know alot of ppl then..and I am kinda shy..so I decided not to go lol)..but thinking about it I wonder how I would have dressed when we went to the beach and pool?.....I know I would not be comfortable wearing a bathing suit around all my church folks esp. the brothers.....how would you ladies handle that??????

Hmm...that's a good question. I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable in a bathing suit either, but I think I would've found a swimsuit that's cute and flattering, but doesn't reveal all your goodies. I definitely wouldn't wear a bikini, but something like a one piece with a cute cover-up or a two piece with a top that covers your stomach and doesn't reveal your breasts, and a bottom (either shorts or a skirt if you want to cover up your thighs). You can be modest and fly in a swimsuit! Pair it with some cute shades or a hat and some sandals or flipflops!! Lol :)
